Eyes That Touch The Soul

First time we met was just by mistake I was suppose to be in another town at another time but somehow I came here and it was a simple wrong turn on the road. So much for GPS LOL. But as it turned out it wasn’t a wrong turn but the start of a journey .

I went to a nearby gas station to ask direction and as I approached the counter I found myself looking back behind me. It was one of those feelings that I saw someone I knew out of the corner of my eye. After I found out just how lost I was I caught another glimpse and decided to see who you might be. I rounded the corner slowly peaking so I didn’t feel stupid if I was wrong about knowing you.

When you turned around I was wrong and started to walk away but then you spoke and said hey don’t I know you. I was dumb struck for a second but replied well to be honest I thought maybe you did but after walking back here and seeing you I felt I was wrong. You said no not if your from Hodgenville. Now I really was feeling stupid because that in fact was my hometown

After I replied that I was from there you giggled and said you really don’t remember me do you? I bowed my head and with a grin, I said not really BUT something led me back here to you. You said I’m Grace silly and again I felt so stupid because all of my life I’ve
done nothing but think about you and those eyes that could touch your soul.

Your cheeks slightly blushed and you said what do you mean by that. I couldn’t lie but didn’t want to sound like every other guy out there nor did I was to sound like a crazy person so I said that’s how I always felt when I looked into them. Didn’t you ever notice I never looked you directly in eye or for very long anyway. I always felt you were special and I was worried that I might be right and you would see every flaw I ever had.

You took my hand and told me that even if you had that power the only thing you would see was a heart that never new anything but good. That meant so much to me and then you asked if I would like to go to your house for a while and if I ever came back I would know where to find you. I said sure I have all the time in the world right now.

When we got there we must have talked for hours! I finally had to leave but before I did you said hang on I want to show you something. When you returned, you had some papers in your hand and you said I kept these because you were more to me than I ever let on. When I opened them I saw child like drawing’s with my name on them. And you had a book with my name and address in it. This tore at my heart and I caught myself looking into your eyes but this time I didn’t feel anything but amazement. With a lump in my throat I barely could speak but maneged to work up thank you, thank you for being exactly who I thought you were all those years ago. With that we embraced, both
smiling, Both looking into each others eyes.
